Contemporary Warm Living- 1,850 Sq Ft Residential Flat Interior Renovation & Restoration
On a simple brief: This 1850 sq ft residential renovation project was focused on transforming an obsolete space into a refined and contemporary living environment. To create a place that feels refined without being cold, cosy without being heavy- the strategy focused on reducing the spatial layout, introducing natural light, and developing a cohesive material palette to enhance both functionality and atmosphere. By removing unnecessary barriers and carefully redefining the program zones, the transformation opens the interior into a fluid, breathable environment. The result is a calm and balanced space where light, proportion, and materiality work together to create a more intuitive and uplifting everyday experience. Throughout the renovation, the focus remained on clarity of design, efficient use of existing elements, and timeless finishes.
“One of the key aspects of the project was ADAPTIVE-REUSE”
During the renovation, rather than demolishing the old wardrobes entirely in the bedrooms, the carcasses were carefully restored and conserved. A new outer structure was designed with updated finishes, with combined materials and wooden detailing to give the storage units a modern and refined appearance while maintaining cost efficiency and sustainability.
The entire execution phase focused on maintaining design integrity while ensuring high construction quality. Careful coordination between design, fabrication, and installation teams allowed for precise implementation of the custom elements. From alignments to seamless laminate finishes and glass installations, each component was executed with attention to craftsmanship and accuracy.
Custom joinery plays a central role throughout the home. The interplay of wood veneer warmth, glass transparency, and laminate precision creates a balanced interior environment that is both visually refined and highly practical. Subtle decorative elements—ceramic vases, neutral artwork, and textured curtains—enhance the cohesive brown and grey theme while maintaining a clutter-free aesthetic.
Entry Foyer – Glass and Metal Partition
The entrance foyer establishes the design language of the home. A custom glass partition framed with subtle metal detailing separates the foyer from the main living area while maintaining visual openness. This element creates a sense of arrival while allowing light to pass through, setting a refined tone for the rest of the interior.
Living Room
Clean wall paneling in soft neutral tones creates a calm backdrop, allowing the furniture and materials to stand out without overwhelming the room.
Natural materials play an important role throughout the design. The live-edge wooden coffee table brings organic warmth and texture to the space, contrasting beautifully with the clean lines of the wall panels and cabinetry. Its sculptural form adds a sense of artistry and uniqueness, making it a focal point within the seating area. The muted color palette composed of warm wood tones, soft greys, and subtle metallic accents creates a timeless and sophisticated ambiance.
Son's Bedroom
The Son’s bedroom was designed as a fresh and playful space within the overall muted palette of the home. A white brick feature wall forms the backdrop, paired with sea green and pine wood finishes to create a light and energetic atmosphere. The combination of natural textures and soft colours makes the room feel youthful while still aligning with the home’s broader material language.
Renovation is more than replacing finishes and rearranging furniture it’s about reimagining how a space feels and functions. A project that stands as a testament to the idea that great interior design is not about trends it’s about crafting environments that feel timeless, functional, and uniquely personal.
